Mariel McClorey - Makeup, Special Effects, and Visual Artist

Hello and welcome to my world! Originally from Long Island, New York, I am an independent makeup/ special effects and visual artist based in Sydney, Australia.

My career in makeup started whilst completing my Bachelor of Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts where I majored in Painting. Upon graduating, I expanded my skills to include special effects, prosthetics and puppets.

I have worked professionally in film, TV, fashion, and theatre since 2005 with credits including: Furiosa, Disney+ The Artful Dodger, Nine Perfect Strangers, Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, Thor: Love and Thunder, Mr Inbetween, Nekrotronic, Thor:Ragnarok,  Cleverman season 1 and 2 (ABC tv), Hacksaw Ridge, Mad Max Fury Road, Wyrmwood:Road of the Dead, The Wolverine, Unbroken, I, Frankenstein and more.

During 2013-2014 I was Head Makeup Artist for the global nightclub brand Pacha. During its time in Sydney, I interpreted and designed high fashion runway looks for a theatrical nightclub experience including makeup design for dancers, aerialists, burlesque artists, circus artists and special live guest performers. 

My work is a reflection of my fine arts background and learning from the best in the industry in both Australia and the UK. I’m interested in makeup and character work that ranges from the most subtle right through to the absolute extreme, combining all aspects of special fx, prosthetics and beauty.
